From: Jim Boyd
I am an electrical engineer with a BSEE from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in NYC.
After resigning from 3 “permanent” jobs in 18 months “on principle”, I founded XL Research in 1978 in search of a “purer”, more professional relationship with my employers/clients. This transition also helped me complete the shift of my design focus from switching power supply design to microcontroller-based product design.
In 1998, I became a Design Partner for Microchip Technologies in Chandler, AZ. Microchip’s outstanding product line and their driven customer focus both play a key role in my consulting practice.
In 2012, I led the switchover of XL and several of my major clients and fellow consultants to Altium Designer as the primary ECAD tool for schematic and PCB design. XL has been an Altium Authorized Service Bureau ever since.
A sense of humor, work/life balance, honest opinions, professional behavior, and personal integrity are highly valued here at XL Research.
I look forward to helping out with your projects,
Jim
